Fischer Creek Preserve
Scenic trails wind through diverse forests and sun-dappled meadows rich with native wildflowers and plant communities.
About This Preserve
Fischer Creek Preserve is a gem of ecological diversity. The property features a mosaic of mature deciduous forest and open meadows, creating edge habitats that support an exceptional variety of native plants and wildlife.
The forest canopy includes oaks, maples, and hickories that provide food and shelter for woodland birds, squirrels, and deer. In spring, the forest floor erupts with ephemeral wildflowers — trillium, bloodroot, and hepatica — before the canopy leafs out.
The meadow areas are managed to maintain native grass and wildflower communities. These open spaces are vital for ground-nesting birds, pollinators, and the many butterfly species that depend on specific native host plants. The scenic trails offer visitors a peaceful walk through both habitats.
